Tropical Theme
We are having a tropical wedding on the beach in the Keys where we live. I ordered recycled glass bottles and purchased plastic palm trees from a cake decorating store. I filled the bottles with some sand, shells and the palm trees. Inside I included a thank you message rolled into a scroll and tied with twine.
The message included our wedding date and both of our names. Each guest will get their own bottle & when they pull out the cork... they will get a special thank you. We liked it because our whole wedding theme is oceans & fish (our two favorite things) and this "message in a bottle" went along with everything perfectly.
Christmas Ornaments
We made heart shaped lace pillows with tiny silk roses hot glued to the top and a ribbon with our names and wedding date tied on. They are Christmas tree ornaments for our December Wedding. We plan on decorating a tree with these ornaments and having guests take one as they go - hope every year they have a special remembrance of our anniversary as they decorate their own Christmas trees.
Ornaments
Since our wedding is in December, we're having ceramic ornaments made with our names and wedding date painted on them. We're hanging these ornaments on a small pine tree that will be near the bridal table. The DJ will announce that guests may pick their favors from this tree.
Truffle Boxes
We are going to have a theme wedding of Christmas in July. We are going to have truffle boxes with a special surprise inside. The best part is that the boxes will be wrapped like a Christmas present, and a ribbon will be placed on it as well. We think this will really add to the whole mood of the reception!
Snowflake Ornaments
My Grandmother offered to crochet 100 snowflake ornaments for my December wedding. I am planning to put one ornament, along with a few Hershey's Hugs & Kisses, in a little box with tissue paper and a bow on top so it looks like each person has a little "present".
Valentine
We are getting married on Valentine's Day, so we thought that it would be neat to give each of our guests a personalized "Valentine" from us. This will double as a place card, and they're very inexpensive - just parchment paper and ribbon. However, it can be very time- consuming, and a little difficult to write an intimate note to 300 people. We started months ago.
Chopsticks
We are having a Japanese theme so I am giving each of my guests a set of silver chopsticks with the symbol of love engraved on the side.
Birdseed in Easter Eggs
Our wedding was on Easter so we decided to put the birdseed in plastic Easter eggs. You can write on the outside of the egg your wedding date and your names with a gold craft pen. This is an easy and timesaving way to go. You get your birdseed and wedding favors done at the same time. It is so colorful and cute for the wedding day.
Halloween Favors
I attended a wedding on Halloween, and the favors were small Halloween bags filled with chocolates. You could even use miniature pumpkins as a favor for a fall wedding, just decorate the stem with coordinating ribbon.
Personalized Bandanas
Some friends of mine had a western themed wedding. For favors they handed out red bandanas printed with their names and the wedding date. Everyone at the reception was wearing them tied around their heads, necks, arms, etc. They were a big hit.
Sand Dollar Magnets
My fiancé and I live in Florida, but we are getting married in my hometown, Columbus, Ohio. We are having a beach/tropical theme (to acknowledge our Florida roots) so for our favors, we bought Mexican sand dollars ($.50 each) and painted them with white sparkle paint. We attached a magnet to the back and tied a "thank you" note (made out of office business cards) on each with a pretty ribbon. They can be used as either refrigerator magnets or Christmas ornaments. They're beautiful!
Fish Pens
Michael is an avid fisherman and I am a marine biologist so we found a pen in a corporate promotion catalog that has the end bent around in the shape of a fish. The pen says, "It's no fish story... Michael and Cristi got hooked! October 9, 1999". We're really excited about giving a gift that people will use!
