Unique Favor Ideas
Picture Frames
We're using picture frames with sayings as favors. We've bought silver and pewter frames. We'll pick out several sayings on love and marriage and put these in the frames. Our guests will be able to take them home and display them as is. Or, if they prefer, they can remove the printed saying and put in something (a picture) of their own.
Painted Champagne Flutes
We've purchased restaurant quality champagne flutes for $1.50 each, and my mother and I are going to paint lilacs on them and put my fiancé and my name on the bottom with our wedding date. The glasses will make a pretty addition to the table and since most people will go as couples, they'll walk away with a pretty pair of flutes!
Personalized Pens
We're going to provide personalized pens with our names and wedding date on them as favors. In addition, we're giving away frosted tea light holders and in them will be mints wrapped in tulle.
Personalized Post-it Notes
We are going to buy personalized post-it notes and send them out with our thank you cards after the wedding. The cards have a drawing of a bride and groom in the upper right hand corner with the following inscription:
Paulette and Donovan
"Sticking together in love forever"
Another good idea is to design a page with a similar inscription and taking it to a printing company so they can produce miniature note pads with your name and wedding date on them.
Mini Silver Salt & Pepper Shakers
My wedding is in the summer and I want my guests to have something that they can use. So I'm giving them mini, silver salt & pepper shakers sitting on a silver tray. After the wedding, they can set it on the table at dinner parties or even at a barbecue.
Angel Picture Frames
We're giving away miniature angel picture frames as favors that double as place cards. On my computer I printed the names of each guest, their table number, our name & wedding date, and a note that says, "Thank You For Sharing Our Special Day". Great favor and beautiful.
Sand Dollar Magnets
My fiancé and I live in Florida, but we are getting married in my hometown, Columbus, Ohio. We are having a beach/tropical theme (to acknowledge our Florida roots) so for our favors, we bought Mexican sand dollars ($.50 each) and painted them with white sparkle paint. We attached a magnet to the back and tied a "thank you" note (made out of office business cards) on each with a pretty ribbon. They can be used as either refrigerator magnets or Christmas ornaments. They're beautiful!
Stained Glass Sun Catchers
My mom and I were at a Craft Fair where a woman made little stained-glass sun-catchers in the shape of doves (which was perfect since I had a dove cake topper!). They were only about $2.00/pc. since I ordered in bulk. We tied monogrammed ribbons where the loop was on top.
To this day, people comment on what wonderful favors we had and how they think of my husband and I every time they look at them! Many keep them in their windows and many put them on their Christmas trees as ornaments! Other shape idea: bells, bride/groom, flowers, cakes, etc.!
Miniature Gift Baskets
As we are getting married in Jamaica and miniature straw market baskets are easy to come by, we are going to order the baskets and have them painted (total of about U.S. $2 each; cheaper if friends do the painting). We're buying about 4 different varieties of potpourri and filling the baskets with them as a bedding for a variety of items such as Hershey's hugs and kisses, cues of liquor, packets of seeds etc. Wrap it in cellophane, blow dry and then we're tying ribbons with our names and the date around the top.
Poker Chips
I am getting married in Las Vegas and will be having a reception in my home town. I plan on having chocolate medallions that resemble poker chips and then personalized decks of playing cards. For the cards, I plan on using regular playing cards and covering the box with a wrapper similar to a chocolate bar wrapper. The wrapper will have our wedding picture and the date we were married in Vegas.
Shot Glasses
We are having shot glasses with our names and wedding date engraved on them. We are going to put two Hershey kisses in each then wrap in netting with a colored bow. We will be giving one to each couple.
Magnet
It's really simple and inexpensive! All you need is a sheet of business cards and magnetic, adhesive backing for business cards (sold at office stores). Print your names, the date of your wedding (and place if desired) onto the business cards, on your computer. Then put the cards on the adhesive and you have magnets!
Personalized Tooth Brushes
At my cousins wedding the favors were great! Both he and his wife are in Dentistry so they decided to have personalized toothbrushes made. Engraved on them were their names and the date of their wedding, then tied to them were two $0.10 candies. I thought it was really neat. Eat the candy then brush your teeth.
