The Celtic Harp
Looking for some very special music for your ceremony or
reception? Something that is that is beautiful and romantic? Then, try the celtic harp.
The celtic harp is a beautiful instrument handcrafted from
fine hardwoods, that produces pretty, bell-like tones. It is naturally acoustic and can be
amplified when the need arises. It can be easily carried, and go anywhere you go!
We talked with Anne Roos, who's been
performing professionally on the celtic harp for more than ten years, about how couples
are incorporating the celtic harp into their wedding celebrations.
Tell us about the celtic harp and
some examples and suggestions on how it can be used for a wedding celebration.
The celtic harp is wonderfully suited for wedding
ceremonies, receptions of any size, rehearsal dinners and bridal showers. The size of the
venue or number of guests is immaterial, because the celtic harp can be easily amplified.
It also gives a special ambiance to small events (under fifty people), when use of an
amplifier is unnecessary.
Here are some specific examples of how the celtic harp can
be used to create an unforgettable event:
- Because of its transportability, the celtic harp is well-suited for outdoor events.
Of course, indoors, the celtic harp can add to the theme and atmosphere requested:
candlelight ceremonies with black-tie attire or the simple casual elegance of a sweet
chapel wedding with a Victorian style of attire, for example. Sometimes a simple service
for the couple, with their best man and maid of honor by their sides, can be the most
tender ceremony of all. The possibilities are truly endless.
- For
receptions, the celtic harp is most suited for cocktail hours and while guests are dining.
Its very easy for guests to converse with celtic harp music in the background; there
is no need for people to feel like they have to shout above the music to be heard.
- For
rehearsal dinners, the celtic harp is again a perfect choice to create a wonderful dining
ambiance. Any style of music selected relaxes the couple before their big day.
- Bridal showers are just plain fun, and the celtic harp adds to this. The hostess of the
shower usually supplies me with a list of requests that are the brides favorites.
Then, the bride is so amazed over that her friends remembered her favorite songs. I get a
lot of mileage from my period costumes at bridal showers, too; a favorite theme is
Victorian tea parties.
- There
is another category that the celtic harp fits into perfectly - marriage proposals. Nothing
is more romantic than sitting at your favorite table in a restaurant, or even at home,
with a celtic harp being played softly nearby when you ask for your intended's hand in
marriage.
